Nature vs. Nurture

This saying is so prevalent to me right now in my life and anyone who knows my family history will understand why. A quick "history" lesson for those who may or may not know as much; my parents divorced when I was 10 years old and ever since then my father and I's relationship has been circling the drain.... I have a dad who is up here and supporting me and encouraging me to do everything I've ever dreamed of! and it's not the one who made me!! Not once have I ever seen my father show HALF the amount of pride in the things I've done as the man whose come to EVERY choir concert, EVERY cheer performance, EVERY event, and has ALWAYS been there for me!

As I stand looking head on at the fact that in two weeks I could be Miss Whatcom County 2012 and heading on to compete at Miss Washington in the summer. I can't thank my family and friends who have supported me through thick and thin; achievements and failures; come backs and let downs on more than one occasion! You (and you know who you are) have helped mold me into the young woman I have become and I hope you know that you can pat yourselves on the back because without any of you I wouldn't be the same!

Diligent

Holy smokes a LOT has happened since the last time I blogged...main reason why I've been sooo busy not blogging would be the super crazy schedule I'm trying to balance with work, Miss Whatcom, school, volunteering, Kurt, and mom, Jim, Joe, Grandma.. But here's some things that have happened in my almost 3 week long blogging break...
This happened.. Hunter Copeland came WAY earlier than expected but He's growing fast and VERY happy to be out with his Mom, Dad and GrannyMa of course!
The Miss Whatcom County Silent Auction happened and between 8 contestants we we're able to raise a little over $2,000 dollars for OUR scholarships!!

It was mine and Kurt's FOURTH Valentine's Day together, which means we are FAST approaching our 4 year anniversary and I've never been happier than when I am with him!! He supports me in EVERYTHING I choose to do and we encourage each other to be our best so that we can have a great future together! And , we're not engaged (yet!) but we love each other and after 4 years of being together that step just sorta happens next!
My baby had to finally get neutered! He was absolutely TRAUMATIZED!! I knew I should have done it sooner but I hadn't gotten everything figured out to be able to get him in! Then the WORST part was that I had to work that day so I only got to take him there and then dad (Kurt) had to go get him!! :( I felt like a TERRIBLE mother! So I've been pampering him ever since!!
A bed fit for a QUEEN! :) Get it it's a QUEEN sized bed!! BAHAHAHA! I like to make myself laugh sometimes! I have FINALLY upgraded to a "big girl bed" as my mom would say! I have been sleeping in a twin sized bed since I was probably 4 and I was ready to move up, but mostly because my poor little twin just couldn't fit Sprocket and I! We were constantly fitting over the bed! I thought my mom was going to cry last night when she came in and saw the finish product, but she said she cried like a baby when I switched from a crib to the "big girl bed" (twin) so no surprise!
Oh and another thing that happened in all this spaced out time, Ronnie moved out.. it's for the best though she's back with her mom where she'll be able to save her money better and get her license and eventually get her own car..that just wasn't happening here with us and with everyone in the house working, Joe and I both going to school and my Miss Whatcom heating up real fast we decided it be best. The last thing I wanted to do was to leave her like a sitting duck all the time waiting for the chance that someone will be home and able to get her to her work!
Tonight is our very first mock interviews for Miss Whatcom County, they're the best and the worst at the same time! Best because they open your eyes to all the things that you still NEED to work on! Worst because 99.9% of the time afterwards you feel like you've failed miserably and just want to hide in a corner and cry! BUT!! You can't do that!! BECAUSE it's only a MOCK interview its to HELP you get ready! I learned this from last year when I  was on the verge of having a panic attack over how terrible I thought I had done! And for me my stress level is a little bit higher this year because I haven't been able to meet with Michelle (interview coach) due to some family issues that she is having at the moment. All I can do is remember everything that she has taught me! Remember my poise, my confidence, and why I'm there!! Those three things always help me!! I'm poised and polished I may live in the country but I am very serious and determined about my interviews! My confidence I've got TONS of it! I just need to remember and find the right ways to portray it to these 5 judges who may or may not know who the heck I am! WHY I'M THERE! I'm there to WIN!! I entered last year want to learn and experience something I had never done before and I kid you not the DAY after pageant was over last year I KNEW I was coming back and this time I was going to WIN! I want this more than anything! I've never been very competitive at all but this is something I'm not going down without a fight over! I've given 200% of my self to getting ready for this and I'm nowhere near ready to stop!! I'm willing to do anything to win this, and when I do win I'm ready to do everything humanly possible to be the best Miss Whatcom I can possibly be! Ask ANY of my supervisors, teachers, and coaches I am always 100% dedicated to what I'm doing and I work my hardest to make sure that everything is PERFECT! There's a reason why my coach named me Diligent it's because I never give up!! Wanna know the definition of Diligent....

DIL·I·GENT adjective

1.
constant in effort to accomplish something; attentive andpersistent in doing anything: a diligent student.
2.
done or pursued with persevering attention; painstaking: diligent search of the files.

That's me all right I read that and I know there isn't a better word in the dictionary to describe me other than diligent and if anyone wants to try and prove me wrong GOOD LUCK!!

And The Gate Drops...

Anyone who knows my family knows EXACTLY what that statement means! I am using it in metaphorical terms since my reason isn't motocross related at all; it's Pageant related.
Yup, February has hit do you know that that means?? That means ONE MONTH!!! Till pageant and one month exactly to the day that I'm posting this actually! For many of you who know me as family members(maybe) think that I am the greatest, prettiest, smartest girl running well the truth of the matter is....I'm not! All 7 of my fellow contestants are all beautiful, unique, and we're all very clever in our own ways. We are the most passionate, determined, and ambitious young women in Whatcom County and that shows through our participation in the pageant. Sure you could "run" and just be there for the money, but you'll get chewed up and spit back out faster than you can say "OUCH" if you don't step up your game!

That's EXACTLY what is happening right now! It's crunch time (both literally & metaphorically speaking because right now that swimsuit is more daunting than EVER!) It's time to pull out all the stops Interview practices, workouts, practicing my talent,  and volunteering in my platform that's just the PAGEANT! That's without adding in that I'm a full-time student, part-time barista, daughter, grand-daughter, girlfriend, sister, and trying to stay in contact with my friends!! Are ya tired yet? Cuz' I sure am!! I get ONE I repeat ONE day off a week and I really techncally couldn't call it a day off cause I'm bound to be doing ONE TRILLION DIFFERENT THINGS!!

I have become an EXCELLENT multi-tasker!! In fact at the moment I am working, blogging, and doing homework ALL at the same time!! :) Pretty good I know!

Au Revoir!
