Back in The Saddle

Okay maybe I'm back to blogging, or maybe not....

NO PROMISES!

But I am getting back into everything that I loved back when I was young and in high school :)

I am now on the Bellingham Bulldogs Cheer Squad, Allegra Women's Choir, and Soccer with my awesome indoor team Business Time....oh wait did I mention that I'm still in school and just got a new part-time job with the new Things Remembered in our mall.
So far I'm not too crazy busy and overloaded but at the moment Kurt and my schedules are butting heads. So finding time for us to see each other is kind of on the back burner till he gets done with this next week of his turn around thingy!

I just realized that I kind of need to change my blog name since I'm not running for Miss Whatcom County this year?
Maybe next year ;)

For now I am going to enjoy making money before the holiday season, love being in groups of my favorite activities, making sure my schooling is in prime condition for my competitive entry program  and hopefully find somewhere to fit my man in this crazy picture.... Somehow!

I'M BACK

Don't worry I am not MISSING!!
Wow these past few months have been beyond busy!!
A quick list now more details later

1. Hannegan started
2. Birthday weekend at AMA Nationals in Washougal
3. Road trip to Michigan
4. Fair week
5. Top Gun
6. New School year

PHHEEWWW!
First, Hannegan season which is awesome as always! Joe didn't race as much there this season but Kurt most certainly did and took 1st and 2nd overall in his two classes; and of course I was working in the kitchen!
Then came my birthday weekend of which we went down for the PROFESSIONALS who came to Washougal to race and that as always is a blast to watch!
The highlight of my summer would definitely have to be the 2 week road trip that Joe and I made to Michigan to see our grandparents! We saw some amazing sights and got to see many states that we hadn't been to yet. We went through 15 states in 15 days!! At the ripe ol' age of 19 I have been to 25 of the 50 states of America!!! That was a once in a lifetime road trip that I will probably NEVER have this opportunity ever again!!!
The Northwest Washington Fair; a blast as usual!! The twist though, we got back from Michigan on Saturday night, had Sunday to "relax" and then I started a 5 day work week with 3 days working at the fair and 2 days at Hannegan! It was a very fun week but when that week was over I did very close to nothing!!!
TOP GUN!! A SWEET 4 day weekend of racing with family and friends and awesome whole family activities after the races like a slip'n'slide, tug o war, and MANcross!

BIG NEWS!! I am NOT going to culinary school anymore, I repeat I am NOT going to culinary school!
WWHHHHHAAAAATTTT????????
You might be thinking well a little bit of an explanation. Originally in high school I had always planned on going into the medical field, took all the extra classes including extra sciences, sports medicine/medical terminology then my senior year of high school took the "detour" from medical to culinary. So technically I am just going back to what I had originally always wanted to do! Which I am excited about, I have chosen to go to school for Physical Therapist Assistant which makes about $40,000 a year with lots of advancement opportunity. Ultimately I want to have a family someday and this career with give me a better opportunity to leave the field for a while once I decide to start my family. For now I am doing the prerequisites for the program and hope to be in my 15 month program in fall of 2013!

Now that I have actually gotten back to the blogging world I will hopefully stay on top of the posting!

Free to be ME!

WHEW! I took quite the break from blogging...
Well these past 2 weeks have been nice and semi relaxing
I am now on Spring Break which is very nice! This is also my last weekend at Curb Shots :(
It's sad and happy at the same time. Sad because I like all my customers and the girls I work with, happy because it means I'll have some more free time to be able to go to the races and enjoy my weekends especially since next quarter the ONLY day off from school that I'll have is Friday's!
Besides I have a job already and I'm going to be working at Hannegan again this summer which I LOVED doing! So I'm excited for that to happen!
I dyed my hair to brown/black I really like it! It's different but I feel like it makes me look more mature. Blonde was KILLING my hair! No matter how good I was at heat protectant and deep conditions it wasn't saving my hair from the color damage every time I would go in to get a "trim" after dying my hair it would easily end up being 2" taken off and that wasn't HELPING me GROW OUT MY HAIR!! So my wonderful hairstylist and myself decided that this would be the healthiest thing to do for my mane!
On other news: RACE SEASON HAS BEGUN!
Do you know what that means! RACE WEEKENDS! Those are the best because that means road trips and RACES! HELLO!! :)
OHH!
I almost forgot, I talked to the Miss Whatcom County Director Carol and she gave me all the details on my scores from the pageant and what the judges thought. Her and I had a great conversation about it; the judges pretty much came down to the fact that I was "young" and it showed....ok....ummm....I'm 18??? What did you expect some full grown woman?? I understand that the idea is poised, confidence, and a role model...BUT...that crap doesn't really cut it for me considering the average age of the girls running was NINETEEN!!! Can someone please explain that to me a little more!? uh, anyways.. She and I talked about how there isn't much I can do to change the fact that I'm young except for just letting time work it's magic. Carol knows me better than the judges do and she said that I shouldn't try to change anything and just let the time work, because the difference in me from the last year to this was HUGE and "she can only imagine what another year will do"
I'm not entire sure whether I'll run again or not..a lot of time is between now and November so yet again only time will tell what will happen! And in the mean Time I'm going to enjoy nothing more than to be me! Go to college, raise my puppy, spend time with the love of my life, and whatever new exciting things decide to happen!

Mysterious Ways!

Even though I didn't win Miss Whatcom County 2012 it was an extremely humbling experience! It opened my eyes to something I have always loved and been involved in but never truly pursued and that's my love of performing!
The stage is my domain and always has been!! I'm more comfortable in front of a huge crowd than a room of people! That's why the tides are changing for me I am pursuing auditioning for Bellingham's local women's choir Allegra as well as preparing to audition for the Bellingham Theater Guilds production of Annie Get Your Gun!
At first I was absolutely devastated that I hadn't won ANYTHING at Miss Whatcom County, well nothing that was announced anyways! I was floored!! The minute that I got off the stairs from our pictures I was running for my family choking back tears because I truly believed that all my hard work and effort would have at least got me 1st or 2nd runner-up but I guess the judges just had something against blondes! =P
As my family and I have been talking about it in the last two days I realized, yup! God sure did have a reason for me not winning and that was showing me that performing is where I belong...who knows maybe I'll switch entirely transfer to Western and enter into their Choral and Dramatic Arts program.....??? Sounds good to me! :)

Today's the Day!

Wow! Just wow! Words just can't even describe how I'm feeling this morning! I've waited and worked for this moment for 3 months and now it's here! :) My interview is this morning at 9:45! I'm not nervous actually I'm really excited! I can't wait to show the judges who I am and why I'll be the best Miss Whatcom County!
I've been praying every day that God will lay it on the judges hearts that I'm the right fit! Deep down inside of me I know that God truly has a purpose for me in this, there's something much bigger than my own desire to win that's pushed me so hard.
If you do happen to read this today please just send up a prayer for me! Pray for my strength cause this is gonna be a LONG DAY, and please pray that the Judges see the best parts of me! My diligent work ethic, my selflessness to help with any situation, my kind loving personality, and my determination to never let anything bring me down!
I DO NOT fit in a cookie cutter shape! Never have never will and I LOVE THAT! I've been 5'2" since I was 10, since I was 13 years old I've had hips that I've loved and hated, and naturally blonde hair with brown eyebrows??(still don't get the last one) I'm not afraid to be who I am and give my opinions and that's something that people either love or hate about me! Sitting where I am right now in this moment I realize that I've done all that can be done the rest is in God's hands........and the judges!

Nature vs. Nurture

This saying is so prevalent to me right now in my life and anyone who knows my family history will understand why. A quick "history" lesson for those who may or may not know as much; my parents divorced when I was 10 years old and ever since then my father and I's relationship has been circling the drain.... I have a dad who is up here and supporting me and encouraging me to do everything I've ever dreamed of! and it's not the one who made me!! Not once have I ever seen my father show HALF the amount of pride in the things I've done as the man whose come to EVERY choir concert, EVERY cheer performance, EVERY event, and has ALWAYS been there for me!

As I stand looking head on at the fact that in two weeks I could be Miss Whatcom County 2012 and heading on to compete at Miss Washington in the summer. I can't thank my family and friends who have supported me through thick and thin; achievements and failures; come backs and let downs on more than one occasion! You (and you know who you are) have helped mold me into the young woman I have become and I hope you know that you can pat yourselves on the back because without any of you I wouldn't be the same!
